“Perspective can be described as having a particular attitude towards or way of regarding something; a point of view.”
What can you see that I can’t see? What can I see that you can’t see?
Perspective is a wonderful thing. It allows us to see other alternatives and viewpoints, just like the many facets of a diamond. What is one thing to someone can be quite different to another. What is a closed door to one is simply the promise of a new beginning to another.
What’s your perspective on your life and circumstances right now? Does it feel like the doom and gloom of a cold Winter has set in for you, or is Spring about to break through and blossom?
A significant ending is occurring in my life…one I’ve been dreading for most of the year. I’m sad and I’m scared, but the power of perspective is helping me to focus on the blessing and potential of it rather than the loss. They say all good things must come to an end, and while I may not be able to delay or even prevent this ending from occurring I can choose to change my perspective — to look on the bright side and trust in the magic of new beginnings. What looks large and all-consuming in my world, from a higher perspective could be quite small and relatively insignificant. It all depends on how you look at it.
Stepping back from our fears and challenges (even if only for a few moments) allows us to expand our awareness, see new alternatives and to have greater perspective. What we once thought was impossible may actually be possible if we are willing to look at it from a different angle.
Life is too short for regrets, and through the power of perspective we can turn what looks like defeat into our greatest triumph. What will you choose?
